In December, Barça and Prime Video will launch the documentary series "FC Barcelona, a New Era."

The FC Barcelona and Prime Video present “FC Barcelona, to new era,” a documentary series that explores the highs and lows of the Club’s most recent two years as viewed from the first team. In keeping with this, the Barça Studios-produced docuseries examines the process of reassembling the workforce as well as the Entity’s economic and institutional reconstruction. An internal narrative that starts with Barça suffering one of its most terrible results in history—a 2-8 defeat to Bayern Munich in Lisbon during the Champions League quarterfinals—and finishes with the 2022–23 preseason and the acquisition of new players, including Robert Lewandowski.

The five 30-minute episodes of the Barça Studios-produced docuseries “FC Barcelona, a new era” will have their worldwide premiere on Prime Video in December.

Flashback

Even in the thick of a contagion, it was certified on August 14, 2020 that an unusual cycle that had started in 2004 had come to an end. It was a pivotal moment for the Club that, months later, would lead to the election of Joan Laporta as president, the selection of the current Board of Directors, who chose a new football executive framework with Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff at the helm, and, ultimately, the inclusion of Xavi Hernández on the bench.

As a result, the docuseries includes moments seen from within, such as Quique’s stage Setién, Luis Suárez’s departure, Leo Messi’s separation from Josep Mara Bartomeu’s board of directors, the Argentine’s final season at the Club, the entry of President Laporta’s new Board, Messi’s emotional farewell, the conclusion of Ronald’s stage Koeman, and how the hiring of Xavi as the new Barça coach was terminated.
